I love the way children draw and paint at a young age, their work is so free. My colourful little girls and I spent the weekend painting and drawing I'm working on a piece called Head of a woman inspired by Picasso. My husband looked at it and looked at it, then went on to say that's weird, what's that?...gotta love that man.

Vintage dress ring...

I've always loved looking through peoples junk, we never had a lot of money and my mother used to say "one man's trash is another man's treasure" I really value this expression, she made me make the most of what I had and gave me a love and appreciation for all things vintage. Style and beauty doesn't have to be expensive however, nice if you can afford it. This is an easy and inexpensive way to make a unique vintage dress ring.

Start with vintage earrings from grandma's collection or get yours from the op shop like I did, such a steel for $2-3 a pair

saving this pair for another project

Pull the earring stem off the base with pliers.

Clean the base of the pendant and score ring base so glue adheres a little better - use a quality industrial glue or glue gun. Leave to set for 10 minutes or so and...

Voila! a vintage dress ring.

Things I'm loving...

Lately I've been so busy with HH and the girls, the shop and just life in general I find I really need my me time at night when everyone is in bed and I can sit and create what ever I want - I usually finish up around midnight but the late nights are so worth the break.

On Sunday I dragged, quite literally dragged HH to the Melbourne Affordable Art fair, I go every year to check out any new work but this year was courtesy of Adore Home. I found there were a lot more independent artists selling their work and less galleries involved in the fair, still can't work out which I prefer. One of my  favourite artists who I've blogged about before is David Bromley LOVE his artwork and homewares.

A few pictures from the fair.

HH and I then relaxed for a bit before picking up our two very noisy little girls...I think HH wasn't too disappointed he was dragged to an Art show, he especially enjoyed viewing David Bromley's work (above) I'm thinking it wasn't for the same reason as me.

P.S...just letting you know PINK is not my favourite colour - just happened to be wearing a pink T-shirt and have a PINK room.

Hope you had a great weekend!

So very HAPPY at the moment - I won tickets from Adore Home to the Melbourne Art fair. I usually go every year to check out some of the amazing works from local and national artists for under $5000 but this time I get to go for free... I think this is the first time I've ever won anything, hope I'm on a roll...

I've gotten so used to blogging it seems like forever since my last post - thanks to blogger.

How was your weekend?... my weekend consisted of cleaning, cooking, cleaning, cleaning and let's not forget washing and more cleaning. We're all just getting over the flu so everything has been washed, dusted, vacuumed and organised. However, I did manage to work on a couple of projects - here is a sneaky peak of what I've been up to...

these are for the shop, guess what they are going to become?

Here are the after shots of my almost finished jacket from this post - just got to attach the lining to collar, it's so warm.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Wednesday's colour - Yves Klein Blue...

I've only recently been reading a lot about Yves Klein  (1928 - 1962) the French artist whose work was part of 'Postwar Abstraction' in Europe.  In 1957 Klein created eleven blue canvases of the same size and named them L'epoca blu, in reference to Picasso's blue period. He used a roller to spread pure powdered pigment onto canvas and resin to set it.

I feel that Yves Klein's non-representational monochromatic works are really relevant for todays economy, fashion and interiors. What do you think?
